Lack of Geological Data Hinders Indian License Auction

Inadequate exploration and geological data was hindering India’s provincial governments from setting the ball rolling for auction of “composite mining licenses.” Provincial governments like Orissa, Karnataka, and Chhattisgarh have pleaded that they do not have the financial nor technical wherewithal to complete G3 (prospecting stage) of exploration, as was made mandatory by the federal laws from auction of composite mining licenses by the provincial governments.

Hindustan Zinc Increases Metal Production

India’s Hindustan Zinc Ltd. reported quarter mined metal production of more than 232,000 metric tons (mt), a year-on-year increase of 42%. The company said its saleable zinc, lead and silver metal production was up by 35%, 27% and 33%, respectively, for the same period.

Upgrade Boosts Griffin’s Caijiaying Plant Throughput to 1.5M Tons

Recently commissioned processing facilities at Griffin Mining’s Caijiaying zinc-gold mine in China were expected to reach an expanded nameplate capacity throughput rate of 1.5 million metric tons per year (mt/y) of ore by the end of June. This level of output was not possible, explained the London-based company, before delivery of a new ball mill and connection of additional grid power.
